Unexpected Allergens in Food

The Allergen Bureau is proud to release the Unexpected Allergens in Food document, a consolidation of information supplied by our members and other food industry stakeholders about where they have found unexpected allergens.

Unexpected Allergens in Food is an easy-to-use list of food ingredients and allergenic ingredients which the foods could use or, from which they may be sourced. This list can be used to prompt questions to find out more information about possible allergens in your food ingredients. It is important to clarify information about allergens from your suppliers, especially when they may not have a good understanding of Australian/New Zealand allergen regulations.

The document also includes information on labelling requirements for products derived from allergenic substrates such as some gums and enzymes.
