Pediatric dietitians need more food allergy education
Monday, 26 July 2010 09:16
The self-reported proficiency of pediatric dietitians managing food allergic patients was found to be only moderate in a recent internet-based survey.
The survey was distributed to the Pediatric Nutrition Practice Group of the American Dietetic Association to determine pediatric dietitians' proficiency, educational needs, and preferences regarding food allergy management. Just over 300 pediatric dietitians responded to the survey, and indicated they would prefer and likely benefit from internet-accessible management handbooks and handouts they could provide to their patients.
