The program included a regulatory update from FSANZ regarding their review of Food Standard 1.2.3 and other legislation relating to allergen labelling, plus an overview of the food recall procedure for undeclared allergens. The NZFSA outlined the Interdepartmental Group on Allergens.
Later in the day, the work of the AFGC Allergen Forum was presented, along with sessions on testing, in-house training and handling consumer enquiries.
The most compelling presentations in the program included a parent’s, a clinician’s and a dietician’s perspective of managing serious food allergies.
