A coroner's inquest has begun in Auckland to investigate the death of a man two years ago as a result of a suspected allergic reaction to food. The man was attending a work dinner at a cafe and had told cafe staff beforehand about his multiple known food allergies. He was given a specially-prepared meal but despite this he suffered what appeared to be a severe allergic reaction, collapsing 10 minutes after eating a tomato entree. He died two days later.
