More findings from Food Allergy Herbal Formula-2 studies

Food Allergy Herbal Formula-2 (FAHF-2) has previously been shown to block peanut-induced anaphylaxis in a mouse model of peanut allergy. Recent outcomes from safety assessments in human patients with food allergy have found the formula to be safe and well tolerated.

Fourteen patients completed the open-label extended phase 1 trial, receiving 3.3 g (6 tablets) of the herbal formula three times a day for 6 months. Patients were assessed for vital signs and other health parameters at baseline and at 2-month intervals.

There were no significant drug-associated differences in the measurements taken before and after treatment. A trend toward a reduction in eosinophil and basophil numbers after treatment was noted.

The researchers will now seek to conduct a controlled phase II study.
