Inaugural PQLPY Prize awarded

The PQLPY Prize is a new award established by the Coeliac Research Fund in Australia. Recipients of the prize will be recognised for their significant contribution in the field of coeliac disease awareness, diagnosis or research.

While visiting Australia during Coeliac Awareness Week 2010, Professor Markku Mäki, Chair and Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Tampere and Tampere University Hospital in Finland was presented with the inaugural PQLPY Prize (sponsored by Inova, Integrated Sciences and Nexpep) by Dr Bob Anderson in recognition of Professor Mäki’s contribution, over many years, to coeliac disease awareness and diagnosis.

PQLPY is the core sequence of the immundominant gluten epitope in coeliac disease.
