Informa will be holding their 9th Annual Food Regulations Conference on 22nd – 23rd November 2007 at the Radisson Plaza, Sydney.

The NSW Food Authority and Food Standards Australia New Zealand  will hold a major food safety conference from Wednesday 19 September to Friday 21 September at the Sydney Exhibition and Convention Centre, Darling Harbour, NSW.

The forthcoming 2007AIFST convention in Melbourne features an afternoon session on allergen management and labelling.

The Allergen Bureau continues to work with the AFGC Communications group to disseminate the latest information regarding allergen management and labelling.

Kirsten Grinter from Nestle and Lyn Davies from AgriQuality presented a challenging and successful workshop on the VITAL tool in Melbourne on 30 May 2007 as part of the annual AgriQuality Food Lab Seminar.

A standard skin-prick test, which involves placing a drop of allergen extract on the skin, then pricking the skin through the drop, is frequently used as a screen for allergies.  An indicative positive result is diagnosed if a hive reaction develops around the site of the skin prick where the hive measures 8 millimetres or more.
