Asthma study may reignite pregnancy-peanut debate

Consuming peanuts and peanut products during pregnancy may raise the infant's risk of developing asthma by about 50 per cent, suggests new research from The Netherlands. Over 4,000 women took part in the study, and data was obtained for 2,832 children.

The results showed no effects for vegetable, fish, egg, or milk products during pregnancy on asthma in the offspring, and are published in the American Thoracic Society's American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine.
