The New York state departments of health and education have produced standardized guidelines, for managing food allergies and anaphylaxis in public schools throughout the state, titled ‘Making the Difference: Caring for Students with Life-Threatening Allergies’. The guidelines outline how schools can protect food-allergic students by developing a partnership that includes the student and family, administrators, teachers, health care staff, food service and transportation personnel and coaches, and volunteers involved in after-school activities and field trips.
