A review of nut allergies in the UK has indicated that allergy to cashew nut is becoming more common than previously reported, and the severity of the reaction to cashew nut is greater than peanut allergy.

Allergy to fish is common among fish-eating populations and in fish-processing communities. In addition, crustaceans and molluscs are also important and common causes of allergic reactions to food. While seafood contains a wide variety of proteins, only a few are known allergens.

Due to increasing concerns about the allergenicity of both molluscs and lupins, the European Food Safety Authority has added these two allergens, and their derivatives, to the list of substances requiring mandatory advisory labelling on foodstuffs sold in the European Union.
