Children with cow’s milk allergy can consume camel milk instead
Monday, 06 June 2011 12:22
Thirty-five children with confirmed allergy to cow’s milk were tested to determine whether they could safely consume camel's milk as an alternative. Twenty percent had positive skin prick test results to camel's milk while 80% were negative to camel's milk and were able to consume camel's milk without any adverse reactions.
Based on the findings of this small study, the authors conclude that a skin prick test is a reliable clinical tool for ruling out reactivity to camel's milk so these children could safely take camel's milk as an alternative source of nutrients.
