Following the promising results of peanut oral immunotherapy trials conducted in the UK and USA, McMaster University and Dalhousie University in Canada have announced their plans to conduct similar research relevant to the Canadian demographic.
The study will focus on 30 children aged six years and over who have diagnosed peanut allergies. They will ingest small quantities of peanuts over an extended period of time. Included in the research aims is to determine whether there are any population differences between Canada and other countries with regard to the success of oral immunotherapy for peanut allergies.
