Campbell wins food allergy award

US consumer group the Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network (FAAN) has awarded Campbell Soup Company with a Special Achievement Award for its commitment to food allergy safety, awareness and education.

The award recognises the impact of new scanning technology introduced to all Campbell plants in North America which has improved allergen labelling on its products. Campbell helped develop the strategy for a Vision System to scan product manufacturing codes and ensure that they match UPC codes on the product labels. As a result, Campbell maintain they have virtually eliminated mislabelling in all the North American plants. Campbell plans to extend the system in Australia, Asia-Pacific and Europe.
