Allergy blamed for death in New Zealand

The New Zealand Herald has recently reported the death of a New Zealand man on the 17th April, following a work dinner.

The article states that the 38-year-old Whangaparaoa father and marketing manager, had had food allergies since he was 5 years old, but he never realised his life might be at risk.

The man apparently notified the venue of his allergies to peanuts, tree nuts, eggs, seafood and chicken, and was provided with a specially-prepared meal. The New Zealand Herald highlighted that a potential trace amount of allergen may have been present in the meal, and this may have triggered the reaction.  The full article can be sourced for a limited time on the New Zealand Herald website.
