A recently-published review looks at the latest research into the management of peanut allergy. The review findings highlight peanut oral immunotherapy as a potential treatment for desensitization in many peanut-allergic individuals. The primary treatment remains the avoidance of peanut.
Other studies included in the review explore the effects of early high-dose peanut protein introduction versus avoidance in high-risk infants and development of peanut tolerance. Other immunotherapeutic approaches that are being investigated in animal models are also discussed in the paper.
