The work of the AFGC Allergen Forum has culminated in the revision of the AFGC Guidelines to Allergen Management and Labelling, and a draft version of this document was presented for review.  Focussed sessions were delivered in the afternoon workshops, where participants could gain a greater understanding of the specific features of the guidelines and provide feedback relating to how the tools and recommendations might be implemented in their company.

A summary of the significant research currently underway in Europe through the Europrevall initiative was presented to delegates, and demonstrated that Australia’s linkages with this project ensures our local efforts are also considered on a global scale.

Clinical aspects of food allergy and the specific health conditions related to gluten were also presented to put the food industry’s efforts into the context of providing safe food choices for consumers.
