VITAL Auditor Guide published

The Allergen Bureau VITAL tool is now used widely throughout the Australian and New Zealand food industry as a means to assess the risk of cross-contact allergens in many processed food products.

As such, the VITAL process should be included in a food safety audit as part of the Allergen Management Plan. To assist in the audit process and to enhance audit consistency, please download the recently updated VITAL Auditor Guide.

The Auditor Guide has been prepared to provide some assistance in the key areas of VITAL. However it is not meant to replace appropriate training in VITAL for all personnel involved in the process, including the auditor.

A series of frequently-asked questions and answers for consumers has also been prepared and is now available on the Allergen Bureau website. This document addresses a number of areas, and including how a consumer can tell which food manufacturers are using VITAL and what type of foods VITAL is appropriately used for.
