NZ Anaphylaxis Education Project

Allergy New Zealand has developed new "Allergy & Anaphylaxis guidelines for Early Childhood Centres & Schools" that will be launched in November 2011. The Guidelines will be available for purchase through the Allergy New Zealand online shop for NZ$20. A pdf version of the guidelines will be posted on the Allergy New Zealand website later in the year.

The development and distribution of these guidelines has been part of an anaphylaxis education project undertaken by Allergy New Zealand in 2011 which focused on the partnership between parents/caregivers, health professionals and schools. The review of the guidelines incorporated feedback from public health nurses and school staff, as well as recommendations from the Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy (ASCIA), the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) and members of the Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Alliance.

The project has been supported by sponsors including: Medic Alert; Link Pharmaceuticals (Anapen): and Mylan NZ (EpiPen). Funding from Sovereign Sunshine has also made it possible for every school in New Zealand to receive a free copy of the new guidelines.

More information can be accessed on the Allergy New Zealand website.
