Missing PIF Information Working Group
A working group has been formed within the Allergen Bureau Member community to look at what could be developed to address the situation of where allergen information is missing from the AFGC Product Information Form (PIF). The information is extremely important to understand the allergen impacts introduced from a particular raw material and key to understanding if a cross contact labelling outcome is required.
The introduction of the Product Information Form (PIF) was a great step forward for ANZ food industry. While the PIF has contributed greatly to consistency of allergen information there are still some challenges.
What are your options when the PIF does not contain all the necessary allergen information for you to make a labelling decision?
What assumptions do you make?
How do you manage this with the Supplier?
The group is currently exploring possible options to address the challenges, including the need for Allergen Bureau to develop guidance with the aim to drive consistency in approach across the industry.
The desired outcome of the Working Group is to improve the quality of allergen information expressed in the PIF as well as driving the food safety aspects of allergen management.
The Working Group welcomes your contribution & participation, please email your thoughts, responses to the above questions or interest in joining the group to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
