Australian CD ROM for small food businesses

A CD-ROM entitled 'All about allergens' has been produced to provide a self-access resource for small business owners in the food industry to learn about food allergens.

The developers, Adult Multicultural Education Services (AMES) worked closely with Maribyrnong City Council, Anaphylaxis Australia, AGB Solutions and Angliss Multimedia to produce the CD.

Using a series of video stories set in a small café/takeaway business, the CD aims to educate staff on food preparation and storage and communication with customers about allergens. Each video story is followed by interactive language and literacy activities and printable resources in English, Chinese, Vietnamese and Arabic.

The Victorian Department of Human Services is including 'All about allergens' in its new Food Safety Kit which will be trialled shortly by the City of Melbourne and the City of Ballarat in their food businesses.

The AMES Resourcing, Learning & Innovation Unit (RLI) has received an e-learning Industry Excellence Award in the accredited e-learning for its interactive CD-Rom All about allergens.

The CD Rom can be purchased for AUD$15 (plus postage) on line from the AMES website.
