New Action Plans for Anaphylaxis |

To coincide with Food Allergy Awareness Week in May 2008, and in response to a reported increase in severe allergic reactions in Australia, the Australasian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy (ASCIA) have released new Action Plans for Anaphylaxis. The updated plans, which outline life-saving treatment for those with severe allergies, provide schools, workplaces, carers, family and friends with clear steps to treating someone who has anaphylaxis.

US Senator backs food allergy study |

Several activities around the world focused on the international Food Allergy Awareness Week in May this year. The US Senator for Connecticut Chris Dodd used the platform to convene a subcommittee hearing to examine the impact of food allergies on children and families. |

Differences at birth between children with and without allergy |

Previously, several studies have shown immunological differences between children with and without allergy at the time of birth. Scientists now believe they may have identified a biological explanation for the link between cesarean-section delivery and risk of allergy and asthma in childhood. |
