American DVD release: Living with Food Allergies

A documentary on living with food allergies is to be released on DVD in late October. The American filmmaker, Kevin Lindenmuth, maintains the film clarifies the misinformation people commonly have about food allergies and illustrates that food allergies are something a person can live with.

The film addresses coping strategies and medical, emotional and social challenges, and describes positive insights some people have gained from learning to effectively live with food allergies on a daily basis.

The documentary includes interviews with Dr. Scott Sicherer, a renowned allergist, as well as Terry Furlong, a co-founder of the Food and Anaphylaxis Network (FAAN). These experts discuss the possible causes of food allergies and its impact on the parents, the allergic child, and siblings. Other topics include the daily routine of an allergic individual; the time and energy that goes into preparing to eat out, going to the park, visiting family and friends, and addressing the lack of understanding and education of people who are unaware of the danger of this condition.
